Residents of Topeka, there has been a recent sewer leak in a sewer main that has caused the following closures: N.E. River rd. near Division St. The City is working to get the issue resolved in a timely manner and your patience is appreciated! The amount of sewage that leaked into Kansas River totals over 50,000 gallons. There is an investigation underway to decipher the cause of the leak. It is most likely due, in part, to an aging infrastructure. The City is also advising that any fish from the river be thoroughly cooked before consumption for safety measures. The Dept.of Pollution Control will be keeping watch on the river during repairs.
